My LG Solo is doing a ringing sound but it doesn't have a sim card. Please help it wont stop.

Asked by: A random user

The LG Solo™ LTE | TracFone, Model # L423DL is a CDMA phone so it does not use a SIM card as GSM phones do. Unfortunately, the battery is non-removable so you cannot remove it to reset the phone to stop it from making the ringing sound that you are describing. You can try rebooting or restarting the phone by pressing the power button and choosing restart. This is also known as a "soft" restart. If that doesn't resolve the issue, you may have to perform a "hard" reboot by pressing the power and volume down buttons for 5 seconds. Rebooting is the same as restarting, and close enough to powering off and then turning off your device. The purpose is to close and reopen the operating system. If you need further assistance, please contact our Support Center at (800) 243-0000...^IFV

The best Straight Talk phones (August 2021)

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

Straight Talk is the prepaid, no-contract service that you find in Walmart locations. If you’re looking to grab the best Straight Talk phones possible, look no further.

The best Straight Talk phones:

Editor’s note: We’ll be updating this list of the best Straight Talk phones regularly as new devices launch.

1. Samsung Galaxy S21

Samsung rolled into 2021 with its most powerful lineup yet — the Galaxy S21 family. It maintains the three-model approach from last year, and Straight Talk has finally added them all to the menu, joining the originally available Galaxy S21.

See also: Samsung Galaxy S21 review

The Galaxy S21 shares plenty of features with its more powerful siblings, and it starts with the internals. The same processor powers all three, and Android 11 is on board with Samsung’s One UI skin, and they feature dust and water resistance. Their dynamic 2x AMOLED screens are among the best in the industry, and all three devices have the same resolution but in different sizes.

This year, the basic Galaxy S21 packs a triple camera setup, capped off by a 64MP main shooter. With it comes a pair of 12MP lenses and a 10MP selfie camera for good measure. The larger Galaxy S21 Plus shares the same unit, but the Galaxy S21 Ultra truly deserves its name. It packs a 108MP main shooter and a pair of 10MP lenses, and a 12MP shooter for good measure.

  • Front camera: 40MP
  • Battery: 5,000mAh
  • Software: Android 11

2. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series

The Samsung Galaxy S line-up may be more popular, but more demanding Samsung fans will prefer the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 smartphones. These come with more powerful specs, a larger display, and an S Pen stylus that will turn your device into a much more productive tool. Prices start at $999, but the Note experience is tough to beat, and these are some of the best Straight Talk phones.

This year we have two versions of the Note: the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The most notable differences between the two phones are the display, construction, and cameras. There are some other differences, clearly (such as the slightly smaller battery in the Galaxy Note 20), but otherwise, the devices are pretty similar.

The main differences are in construction. The Note 20 has a plastic body and a flat display, while the Note 20 Ultra comes with a metal/glass construction and a curved edge screen. Check the specs below to see the differences in more detail.

  • Display: 6.7-inch, Full HD+
  • SoC: Snapdragon 865 Plus
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB

  • Front camera: 10MP
  • Battery: 4,500mAh
  • Software: Android 10

3. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE

Eric Zeman / Android Authority

As usual, Samsung kicked off 2020 with its hottest device lineup: the Samsung Galaxy S20 family. This included the Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra. Along with different sizes and price points, there are some other key differences between the three. But as the phones have aged, Straight Talk has slimmed its pickings down to the latest addition to the family.

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S20 FE as the most affordable member of 2020’s flagship line. It makes a few sacrifices to keep costs down, but the large battery, powerful selfie camera, and rainbow of finishes make the S20 FE worth a solid look. You’ll find 2020’s Snapdragon 865 processor onboard as well as up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Perhaps best of all are the color options Samsung chose. You can grab the blue shade seen above as well as different hues of red, white, yellow, and more.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE specs:

  • Display: 6.5-inch, Full HD+
  • SoC: Snapdragon 865
  • RAM: 6/8GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB
  • Cameras: 12, 12, and 8MP
  • Front camera: 32MP
  • Battery: 4,500mAh
  • Software: Android 10

4. Apple iPhone 12 series

You may be on an Android site, but there’s no denying that the new iPhone 12 series are a great bunch. These phones find a sweet spot that nicely balances performance and usability, but all of them come with stunning cameras, incredible performance, and an amazing ecosystem of apps and accessories.

iOS isn’t to everyone’s taste and requires a few compromises regarding file management and customization. But there is no denying the quality of many of the apps available. Editing video on your mobile device is fiddly but doable thanks to the insanely performant processors, and games fair extremely well.

5. Apple iPhone SE (2020)

Do you want the latest processor from Apple inside your next iPhone but don’t want to spend tons of money? Then check out the 2020 edition of the newly launched Apple iPhone SE. You are getting the same A13 Bionic processor found in the iPhone 11 models in this phone, but you will only have to pay $349.99 to get it from Straight Talk.

More:Which iPhone is right for you?

The catch is that you will be getting a much smaller 4.7-inch phone without a 1080p display. You will also get a single 12MP rear camera and a 7MP front-facing camera, along with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There’s also a tiny 1,821mAh battery, but it does support wireless charging on the plus side. It’s still one of the best Straight Talk phones you can get for a much lower price than the more expensive flagships.

All new TracFone and Straight Talk phones at Walmart, priced from LG Stylo 5 to Note 10

It used to be that going the virtual carrier (MVNO) route was the only way to get unlimited data at reasonable pricing on your favorite carrier of choice. Today's prepaid fight, however, is also fought by the major carriers - Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint - bringing real competition to the market.
Thus, each virtual carrier has reinvented itself in recent years, targeting a certain niche, either geographically, or with unorthodox amounts of data at rock bottom prices, too, in a way to differentiate from the big four. Well, the little guys usually ditch a few added features in the process, but those are of the type you might not be using on a regular basis anyway.

When it comes to virtual operators that piggyback on the big four networks, TracFone is the undisputed leader in the US, with more than 25 million subscribers scattered among its prepaid brands.

It is an odd bird, known predominantly from its brands like Straight Talk, Total Wireless, Simple Mobile, and the like. Its services have become synonymous with Walmart, whose stores carry it, and is extremely popular as far as prepaid goes. Not only is Straight Talk cross-platform, but its $55 unlimited can hardly be beaten, plus it comes with a very high 60GB throttling cap, compared to the "big four" offerings.

As usual at this time of the year, the TracFone Umbrella Corporation is releasing a smorgasbord of new phones at all price points, from the lowly $20 A1 to the Note 10+ at $1099, something for everyone, and we got tipped on all new phones that will be vying for your attention on America's largest prepaid virtual carrier this holiday season. In case you're wondering if you can buy an LG or Samsung phone on Straight Talk, read on.
