  2. Find the keyboard driver, right click on it and select Remove.
  3. Restart the computer without reinstalling the driver. After rebooting, the computer should reinstall the keyboard driver itself. You can then restart the Device Manager.

If not, you can update the keyboard drivers with Driver Fix. Note that manually loading drivers is a process that can install the wrong driver, which can lead to serious PC malfunctions. We recommend an alternative tool that will do this for you.

A safer and easier way to update drivers on a Windows computer is to use an automated utility like DriverFix.

  5. Click Add a user without a Microsoft account.
  6. Enter the user name and click Next until you are finished.
  7. Log in to your account and check that your keyboard is working.

4. Laptop battery discharge

If you have this problem with your laptop, you may be able to solve it by simply discharging the battery.

There are several reasons why the keyboard starts typing automatically, but several users have reported that they solve the problem by running down their laptop’s battery.

To do this, run the laptop for a few hours until the battery is completely dead. Then remove the battery and press the power button for about 30 seconds or more.

This will remove all residual power from the unit. Now insert the battery back into the laptop and check if the problem persists.

5. Try the keyboard on another PC

Sometimes the keyboard types automatically because one of the keys is locked. If this is the case, carefully remove this key and check if the problem is solved.

If the problem does not occur, insert the key back into the slot and see if that helps.

If the problem persists, plug the keyboard into another computer and see if it works. If the keyboard works, it is possible that one of your settings is causing a problem on your computer.

Hi Debarghya_Acharya_640
I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.

Let's first rule out whether the keyboard hardware is an issue or not. Can you use Keyboard tester and press keys to see if the keys are working correctly or not? If keys work as intended, then problem is not the hardware of Keyboard.

If no hardware issue - Please try these options one by one and check after each option.

1. Run Keyboard Troubleshooter
Type Troubleshoot in Windows Start Search box > Click Troubleshoot > Scroll down and click Keyboard > Run the troubleshooter > Follow onscreen directions

2. Turn off filter keys in Ease of Access
Windows Key+i > Click Ease of Access > Keyboard > Ensure Filter Keys is not checked

Type whole sentences by just pressing a button

Latest version

May 2nd, 2017

Auto Typer is a useful software that lets you add automatic sentences to any type of document on your PC, without having to type the actual words, just by pressing a single button.

It's as simple as opening Auto Typer and inserting the exact sentences you want to automate. It is very useful for filling out questionnaires or using complex URLs.

Once you've decided on the sentence you want to insert, you just have to determine which key will activate it. You can do that by opening the menu and selecting the most convenient option or choosing one yourself.

You can also set the time it takes for the text to be written. You can select how many seconds it takes from when you press the key to when the text is written.

You can set up as many sentences as you want, inserting them wherever you might need to avoid long, boring, and repetitive jobs.

My Windows 10 Keyboard’s Typing Automatically, What To Do?

Keyboard or keypad, whether something that’s already attached to a laptop or external peripheral, is an indispensable part of your computer. Over time with use, or due to other reasons such as external damages, defects, or any internal system-related issues, your keyboard can cause many issues. For instance, it may just stop working altogether. Here, we are going to address a problem where your keyboard starts typing automatically without your inputs.

Note: If you have landed on this blog, chances are your keyboard is already acting weirdly by typing on its own.  We’d suggest that you fire up the on-screen keyboard. If you don’t know how to switch the on-screen keyboard, worry not! And click here(By the way it is indeed wonderful!)

Fixes To Solve The Problem Of Keyboard Typing Automatically – In A Nutshell

1. Use A Different External Keyboard For A While

Just because your existing PC keyboard or laptop keyboard is typing automatically, you shouldn’t let your work suffer. We’d recommend that you get an external keyboard, at least till the time you can fix the current keyboard issue.

This is applicable for both your desktop PC as well as laptop. Bear in mind that your productivity shouldn’t be hampered first, and second, this is just a temporary fix. Also, make sure you disable your current keyboard, the steps for the same are mentioned below –

  1. Connect your external keyboard to your laptop
  2. Now, open your device manager by typing devmgmt.msc and press enter
  3. When the device manager window opens, locate your laptop’s keyboard under the Keyboard section, right-click on it and select Uninstall device
  4. Click Yes when the confirmation dialog box appears
    Uninstall device

2. Tweak Keyboard Settings If Laptop Keyboard Is Typing Automatically

Keyboard Settings

Users have reported that their keyboard automatically types multiple letters even after they have finished typing. If the keyboard on your laptop is typing automatically also though you know not pressing any keys, you can adjust few keyboard settings and resolve the issue –

  1. Open Control Panel by pressing Windows + R keys, type Control in the Run dialog box and press OK
  2. In the search bar, type keyboard
  3. When Keyboard Properties window, open move the slider towards the left in Repeat delay (closer to Long)
  4. Do the same with the Repeat rate slider, i.e., move it closer to Slow
  5. Test your keyboard’s performance in the bar that says Click here and hold down a key to test repeat rate
  6. Click on Apply, then click OK

3. Turn Off Filter Keys

Filter Keys

It could be that your keyboard is automatically typing in Windows 10 because the filter keys are enabled. Though they are useful and help keep track of keyboard repeat rates and repeated strokes, they can sometimes lead to unwarranted keystrokes. To disable this feature –

  1. Open Settings by pressing Windows + X key and click on Settings
  2. Go to Ease of Access
  3. On the left-hand side under the Interaction section, click on the Keyboard option
  4. Now look on the right-hand side at the second option, which is Filter Keys. Toggle it off

4. Use Registry Editor

You can also use the Registry Editor functionality to resolve the Windows 10 keyboard typing automatically issue. Here are the steps that you need to follow –

  1. Open Registry Editor by pressing Windows + R key and the typing Regedit in the Run dialog box
  2. Follow this path –

  1. Towards the right, double-click on each of these options and change the value as given below and press OK after each –

AutoRepeatDelay – 500

AutoRepeatRate – 50

BounceTime – 35

Registry Editor

  1. Restart your laptop or desktop to see if the keyboard has stopped typing automatically

5. Update Keyboard Driver

Updating or even reinstalling the keyboard driver may help you resolve the issue. One of the best ways to update the driver is to install a driver updater utility like Advanced Driver Updater. This tool has an extensive driver base so that you can quickly scan, install, and download and even update the latest drivers in a few clicks.

  1. You can scan your computer for outdated drivers and update them with the latest drivers which might hard to find manually.
    Update all
  2. You can even create a backup of existing drivers and restore them in case of an emergency.ADU

6. Let Your Laptop’s Battery Drain

Something that can help stop your laptop keyboard from typing automatically is to drain away its battery. Simply keep your laptop running for a few hours. You can choose to keep it locked so that no further typing takes place. Once the battery is completely gone, remove the battery and hold and press the power button for approximately 30 seconds or a little more. This would help drain the full power out of your laptop.

Once done, insert the battery in your laptop again and check if the issue has been resolved.

7. Run The Keyboard Troubleshooter

Keyboard Troubleshooter

Last but not least, you can even try running the keyboard troubleshooter to resolve keyboard typing automatically. For this –

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Update & Security
  3. Click on Troubleshooter
  4. On the right-hand side click on the Keyboard and then click on Run the troubleshooter
  5. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen
