In this tutorial you will find very detailed step by step illustrations and instructions on how to draw a female character in the anime and manga style.
Below is an explanation of how to draw an anime girl from the front and side views.
For drawing a female anime character in three quarter view you can see:
How to Draw an Anime School Girl in 6 Steps
Step 1 – Draw the Overall Shape of the Female Body
One of the most important thing to keep in mind when drawing the full figure is the proportions or the relation of one body part to another. Everything has to be the right size or your character will look odd.
Certain styles may deliberately exaggerate certain proportions (like the big anime eyes for example) there are still rules to follow when drawing.
For the front view of the girl you should start by drawing a vertical line. This will help you make both sides of the figure more even. If you are drawing two views at once you can add the horizontal lines to make sure that the different body parts match up in both views.
Drawing both views at once is a good exercise. If you are good at drawing one particular body part in one view but not so much in another this can help you.
Drawing the Head
Start by drawing the head without any of the small details. In the front view you can draw a circle to help you get the shape of the top of the head. In the side view it will be a slight oval.
For more on drawing anime heads and faces see:
Drawing the Body
If we were doing a more realistic looking style the body would be about as wide as two heads side by side (not including the hair). But since we are drawing anime draw the head slightly bigger than that so the body will be smaller in comparison.
The shape of the body (when drawing the front view) should be similar to an hourglass.
You can draw some small circles to help you get the shape of the shoulders. Later on we will also draw these to indicate joints.
Drawing the Arms
Draw the arms starting from the shoulders and work your way down. You can draw circles to indicate the position of the joints.
For the proportions and a detailed breakdown of drawing the arms see:
How to Draw Anime & Manga Arms Tutorial
Drawing the Legs
The legs should be about half the length of the entire body.
The feet (when drawing the side view) should be about as long as the distance from the wrists to the elbow.
For more on drawing the legs see:
How to Draw Female Anime Legs Tutorial
You may notice that in the front view the feet go slightly past the bottom vertical alignment line. This is NOT a mistake. This is because if we rotate the person on the spot her feet would reach closer towards the viewer in the front view than in the side view.
Looking at the Perspective Drawing Tutorial for Beginners and How it Relates to Anime may give you some insight into this.
Step 2 – Clean Up Your Drawing
Clean up your drawing after you have established the basic shape of the body. You can also add in some of the smaller details such as the neck collar bones and the a hint of the knees in the front view.
For more on drawing anime necks see:
How to Draw Anime Neck & Shoulders
Step 3 – Draw the Details
Drawn out draw in the details such as the hair and various facial features.
We will not go into the details of drawing those in this tutorial as they are already covered in other tutorial on this website. You can refer to the following for more information:
Step 4 – Draw the Clothes
For the clothes we will draw a few basic items. We will draw a shirt, shorts and socks.
If you would like to draw shoes see:
How to Draw Anime Shoes Step by Step
Since these type of clothes are fairly thin and tight it will follow the overall outline and shape of the body.
Start by drawing some lines that indicate each item of clothing. Draw these lines in smooth curves that hug the shape of the body. (For example the top of the socks should not simply be a straight line but a curve to show that the fabric of the socks actually wraps around the leg)
You can also add some very basic small folds to make the clothes look a little more natural.
For more examples of drawing anime clothes see:
Step 5 – Add Color & Shading
For the finishing touches add some basic color and shading.
In this tutorial we will draw as if our character is standing in fairly normal lighting conditions either outside or indoors and facing towards the light source that is up above her.
Any part of the body that is less exposed to light will be darker.
In this case the you can add some as follows:
- Neck/shoulder area
- Inner parts of the legs (front view)
- Inner sides of arms (front view)
- Below the knees
- Back of the legs (side view)

There is a lot keep track of when drawing a full body of an anime character. You have to make sure to have good proportions while still maintaining the style. Fortunately most common anime style bodies are still somewhat similar to real bodies so you can look at photos of real people if you need some reference material.

How to Draw a Female Body
We will continue the series of basic drawing lessons. Today we created a new guide on how to draw a female body.
Firstly we depict the approximate contours of the body. We will draw with this stickman in this step. The basic features of this step are a large pelvis and a relatively narrow chest. In general, the pelvis of a woman is usually narrower than the shoulders.
In this step we will only draw sticks. As you may have noticed, we used sticks to create the contours of the woman’s limbs. Arms of our character are formed by obtuse angles. The legs look like two lines that taper down.
To finish the contours of the body, we need to connect our girl’s chest and pelvis with smooth lines. In the end, we should get a figure that is slightly similar to a pear. In this step, we outline the basic facial features.
We outline the basic contours of the arms and legs. We do this with long elongated cylinders and balls. The arms of the girl in our figure should not be wide or too embossed.
One of the structural features of a typical female figure is wide round hips. Legs should taper slightly downward. In the area where the hips and pelvis join, you can see contours that look like the letter “M”.
So now we can begin to outline the facial features of our heroine. In fact, you can give her any appearance according to your desire and imagination. We decided to draw large eyes, a small nose and puffy lips.
We outline the contours of the ears. The upper edge of the ear is located in the same plane with the eyebrows. The lower edge of the ear coincides with the tip of the nose.
Now we will depict the contours of the hairstyles of our beautiful girl. In fact, you can draw any hairstyle to your taste. We decided to choose a typical hairstyle that looks like a bunch of hair on the back of the head.
In this step, we give the finished look to the body of our girl. Add the contours of the bra and outline the contours of the navel.
We outline the contours of the arms. Avoid too strong bends so as not to make the figure of our heroine too powerful. In the area of the elbow joints there are barely noticeable extensions.
As a rule, drawing hands is a rather difficult task. In our case, it is quite simple because we do not need to draw fingers. Here we outline the small contours of the angular figures, these are fists. Add a small vertical line to each fist. Fists should not be too large.
So we continue the lesson on how to draw a female body. Draw legs once again to create the final contours. Outline the underwear.
So we are almost completing this drawing guide. All we need to do now is outline the contours of the small feet.
We always leave one step in order to evaluate the resulting picture and try to detect all errors and inaccuracies. Now we will remove the extra lines from the previous steps and evaluate what we see on our paper sheet.
Choose the necessary colors in this step to your taste. Avoid complex shadows and highlights. If you have not made mistakes in the previous steps, your drawing should look spectacular with basic coloring.
This lesson was created specifically for the training of drawing a human figure. In fact, it is very important to master the basics of drawing before embarking on more difficult tasks.

How to draw a female torso in 11 steps:
Step 1: Draw the head
Draw an egg-shaped ellipse that will be the head of your model. Leave enough space for the body. Once you have it, pull down a vertical Centerline for the torso.
Step 2: Shoulder line
Draw a horizontal line half-head below the chin. This is the shoulder line and also marks the length of the neck.
One of the reasons fashion illustrations look that graceful is the long necks of the models. Don’t be afraid to draw a neck longer than half the head size, but avoid making them shorter. A shorter neck will give your model a masculine look.
Step 3: Torso guidelines
First, make two ellipses one next to another right under the shoulder line. They should be the same size as the head and touch the Centerline. Make them one from each side.
Then, draw a third “head” between and under the latter two. The torso Centerline should separate it in the middle. It is essential that you draw all the ellipses the same size in order that your model does not result in an unproportionate figure.
Step 4: Draw chests guidelines
Begin by drawing a feminine neck that is slightly curved towards the Centerline in the middle.
Then, touching the upper two ellipses draw two smaller circles. The size of those is about ¼ of the head. Make one from the left side and one for the right.
The circles in the lower half of the upper two ellipses mark the breasts of the model.
Step 5: Nice curves
Shape the shoulders. Try to make them slightly narrowed and follow the outline of the small circles in the end.
Next, shape the breasts as shown in the picture. Make sure to leave enough space between the shoulder line and the chest.
To draw the waist find the middle of the head frame and make two narrow lines. Follow the guidelines of the ellipse.
Step 6: Rib cage
Connect the waist and the breast by curved lines. These are for the rib cage.
Step 7: The details make it work
Follow the circle guideline of the breast and add short lines from the opposite side of the outline you already have.
Mark the belly-button close to the bottom of the last head frame.
For the breastbone draw a small circle where the shoulder line and the torso Centerline cross. Connect it with the shoulders by narrowed (up) lines.
Step 8: Pelvis guidelines
Soften the line of the collarbone.
Draw two circles from both sides of the Centerline again. These are the frame for the pelvis.
Mark the crotch.
Step 9: Bones
Find the middle of the last ellipses and connect the waist and the crotch forming a diamond-like shape.
Just below the waistline draw two circles with the same size as those used for the shoulders.
Step 10: Cure the pelvis
Outline the pelvis with soft curves. Don’t forget the small circles.
Step 11: Add the legs
Erase all the guidelines you don’t need and draw the legs and arms that you’d like. It’s up to you!

It doesn’t look right! Common mistakes:
Mistake 1: The neck and the collarbone are among the most beautiful things about models. Have your time to draw thew properly. The breasts shouldn’t be too pushed up.
Mistake 2: Follow the guidelines you have drawn for the hips or you risk to make your model too curvy.
Mistake 3: The waist is too thin. Watch out for this common mistake!

The girl rested her palm on me, then even hit me slightly, but immediately went limp. I was scared - suddenly suffocate - and with a jerk took her head off my penis. I poured the last two streams of semen right on her nose and chin. Fortunately, the girl did not suffocate. Dazed and stained with saliva and semen, she looked at me with wild eyes.
