Step 1:Contact the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283. The NCSC can assist customers, community-based organizations and liaison groups with case related inquiries. Before calling the NCSC please have available your receipt number, alien registration number, type of application filed and date filed. During your call we recommend that you take note of the following information:
- The name and/or id number of the NCSC representative
- The date and time of the call
- Any service request referral number, if a service referral on a pending case is taken
- California Service Center: csc-ncsc-followup[at]dhs.gov
- Vermont Service Center: vsc.ncscfollowup[at]dhs.gov
- Nebraska Service Center: ncscfollowup.nsc[at]dhs.gov
- Texas Service Center: tsc.ncscfollowup[at]dhs.gov
When contacting the Service Centers by email you will need to provide the information outlined in Step 1. If the NCSC did not issue a service request after your call, please indicate the reason the NCSC representative did not issue the request.
Step 3:In the event you do not receive a response within 21 days of contacting the appropriate Service Center, you may email the USCIS Headquarters Office of Service Center Operations at: SCOPSSCATA[at]dhs.gov. You will receive a response from this email address within 10 days.

California Service Center (CSC) area varies depending on the type of form you will file, and the filing instructions for that form. The CSC processes cases that will be indicated on the form instructions to be mailed directly to the CSC. Applications and petitions to be filed with CSC must be filed by mail unless the form instructions offer an e-filing option.
In filing your application or petition make sure to follow the instructions for the application or petition. When you file, USCIS will mail you a receipt within 30 days after they receive your case. Your receipt will describe how your case will be processed.

If you think there is a problem with a case that you filed, you have moved, or you are in need of other services, the National Customer Service Center offers a variety of Case Services for a case that is pending or completed.

All other H-1B and H-1B3 cap-exempt extension of stay, change of status, concurrent employment, U.S. consulate/port of entry (POE)/pre-flight inspection (PFI) notification, and amended petitions.
Note: Excludes H-1B petitions for cap-exempt petitioners or entities, petitions that are cap-exempt based on a Conrad/Interested Government Agency (IGA) waiver under INA Section 214(l), or petitions where the employer is located in Guam or the beneficiary will be performing services in Guam (see the relevant sections for filing details). This also excludes all H-1B1 and H-1B2 petitions.All other H-1B and H-1B3 petitions including H 1B and H-1B3 extensions, concurrent employment and amendments, and petitions from the same employer without change.
This includes:
- A continuation of previously approved employment from the same employer without change;
- A change in previously approved employment;
- New concurrent employment;
- A change of employer;
- A change of status to H-1B;
- Notification to a U.S. consulate, POE, or PFI; or
- To amend a petition.
This excludes petitions filed by cap-exempt petitioners or for cap-exempt entities, petitions that are cap-exempt based on a Conrad/IGA waiver, or petitions where the employer is located in Guam or the beneficiary will be performing services in Guam. This also excludes all H-1B1 and H-1B2 petitions.
